Fjord Life

In Norwegian,Våryr means “spring dizzy”; the word is used to describe what people experience when, after the long, dark winter, the days begin to lengthen. Some of Hans Kristian’s photographs of people on the west coast of Norway exemplify Våryr. Riise told me, “I got this feeling, like I could just go anywhere, drive up to the sea, swim in the river and find a café. People seem to have time for you, they’re like tourists, taking a bus and then walking without any destination in mind.”

“With a bit of luck, his life was ruined forever. Always thinking that just behind some narrow door in all his favorite bars, men in red woolen shirts are getting incredible kicks from things he’ll never know.”

The entrance to Newgrange, a prehistoric monument in County Meath, Ireland, 1905Newgrange (Irish: Sí an Bhrú) is a prehistoric monument in County Meath, Ireland, about one kilometre north of the River Boyne. It was built about 3200 BC, during the Neolithic period, which makes it older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids. Newgrange is a large circular mound with a stone passageway and chambers inside. The mound has a retaining wall at the front and is ringed by ‘kerbstones’ engraved with artwork. There is no agreement about what the site was used for, but it has been speculated that it had religious significance – it is aligned with the rising sun and its light floods the chamber on the winter solstice. It is the most famous monument within the Neolithic Brú na Bóinne complex, alongside the similar passage tomb mounds of Knowth and Dowth, and as such is a part of the Brú na Bóinne UNESCO World Heritage Site. Newgrange also shares many similarities with other Neolithic constructions in Western Europe, such as Maeshowe in Orkney, Scotland and the Bryn Celli Ddu in Wales.

Legitimately one of the funniest things I’ve read in a long time. I have a bizzaro love for DPRK.

Christian Zionists, but really old white american outfits. They all look the same, which is terrible. They all have sad hair, sad bermuda shorts, sad polo shirts. It’s like if I got plonked in the heart of Jerusalem and couldn’t hear anyone speak, I could tell you which group was the American tourists.
